Message to Days for Girls - Mackay volunteers

Please Note There will be NO DfG on Easter Saturday 20th April 2019 
nor the following Saturday 27th April 2019.  
We will resume on the 4th May 2019.

  Greetings,

I am very excited to tell you that the Board of Days for Girls Australia Limited has recently made two very significant appointments to our organisation. 

As of 1 June, Mary Connelly-Gale will take over the role of Australian Country Coordinator. 

Our beautiful Founder Gloria will be mentoring Mary in the interim and will remain active in DfG, continuing on the Board and enjoying more time for her passion of sewing! 

Mary has been volunteering with DfG for some years, having been a member of the Camberwell Team and currently as the Goulburn Valley Chapter leader. 

Patsy Lucas will be our new PR and Training Officer and is active supporting the Coonabarabran Team. 

Patsy will assume this role on 1 April. 

Both ladies bring with them a smorgasbord of skills and a passion for Days for Girls.

I'm sure you will all join me in giving Gloria a mighty shout out for all she has done to grow our organisation and the girls. Her commitment to the cause has been inspirational - and she isn't over yet!

It was fabulous to have Di and Geoff visit and catch up with everyone, as well as address a few issues including our plans for the immediate future and the ever concerning quality matters.

Father John blessed our Heavy Flow Kits prior to packing. They are destine for Cambodia in early April 2019.  Another first for the DfG Mackay Team.

Another 25 Heavy Flow Kits are scheduled to be packed next Saturday as well as 50 regular Kits.  Each and every volunteer is to be commended for their generosity and magnificent effort in making all this possible.  

Bini impressed everyone with her delectable treats.Thank you Bini.

There will be no DfG on Easter Saturday nor the following Saturday. We will resume again on 4 May 2019.

Another fun and productive morning at Days for Girls Mackay 

Joanne serenaded us with one of her own compositions - leaving everyone pensive and reflective.  We are truly blessed to have her in our DfG family.

The generosity of the DfG Volunteers and friends of DfG never ceases to amaze - another 30 washers were anonymously donated today.  We hope that person is aware of how grateful we really are and the importance of such generosity

Our thoughts and prayers go to those DfG Volunteers/family members experiencing adverse health events - may you have a speedy recovery.

At Days for Girls, we are so fortunate to have incredible, dedicated volunteers and supporters around the globe from Australia to Guatemala, meaning we get to celebrate this day for 48 hours! Today, I’m asking you to join our new Sisterhood Circle, a community of monthly donors committed to sustaining our mission to increase access to menstrual care and education to every girl, every where, period. The women and girls we reach have needs every day of the year, and your sustaining donation will enable us to empower them year-round in the most strategic ways possible. Monday evening was the launch of the 2019 Great Community Fundraiser. A hugely successful joint project of Mackay North Rotary Club and North Jacklin Mackay.

A large number of non-profit organisations are taking part in this fundraiser by way of selling tickets, thereby raising money for their organisation.

Representatives of our group attended the launch and registered to be part of this huge fundraising effort. 

Ticket selling will commence Monday 1st April - No, not an April Fool's joke :-) 

Ticket sales will close Wednesday 31st July.

The Raffle will be drawn at an official function on Monday 12th August.

Last year the Days for Girls Team sold 500 tickets, which gave a profit of $1000.

This year we are hoping to go for 1000 tickets!

Here is the final draft of DfG Mackay's Welcoming : Introduction document.

Thank you to everyone for assisting with the formation of this letter.

It is envisaged that this will be handed to all newcomers, and perhaps other interested people, to give them a bit of an idea of what we are all about.

Dianne Catto is Team Leader of the Days for Girls Mackay Team. Di and Geoff now live in Wynnum, but Di is constantly is touch with us. 

Di liaises with DfG Australia and DfG International, forwarding reports and other required documents on a regular basis.
